Dear Student,
Magnets when broken into pieces form separate magnets. Magnets loose their magnetisation by hammering or heating. Magnetic strength depends on the density of domains and their magnetic magnetic moments. By hammering or heating, phase change occurs which reduces the strength and the size of these magnetic moments. As such, they loose their magnetization. Due to impact as the magnet is dropped from a high height, if a magnet looses its magnetization, that can only be possible if that impact causes a phases change leading to the decrease in the strength and the density of domains.
