Dear student,
The earth's atmosphere is composed of various components. The air in our atmosphere is composed of molecules of different types of gases. The most common gases are nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (about 21%). Other gases like argon, helium, CO2,etc are also present but in very small quantities and account to be about only 1%.
Out of all these gases our body takes up only oxygen through breathing for cellular respiration. Therefore it is said that " the earth 's atmosphere is more than just the air we breathe."
Regards.
