Red blood cells are most common type blood cells, they take up oxygen in the lungs and release it while squeezing through body's capillaries. During maturation, red blood cell loses endoplasmic reticulum. It enables the RBCs to contain more oxygen carrying haemoglobin. This enables more oxygen to be transported by the red blood cell.
