An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment, interacting as a system. Sun is the source of energy fixed by the primary producers, like plants. Primary consumers, like herbivores, absorb most of the stored energy in the plant through digestion, and transform it into the form of energy they need, such as ATP, through respiration.
