Entry of pollen tube through the chalazal end is called
Once the pollen tube reaches the ovary it can take three different routes to the ovules. A route in which the pollen tube can enter the ovule through the micropyle is called porogamy and a route in which the pollen tube can enter the ovule through chalaza of the ovule is called chalazogamy. As chalaza represents the base portion of the ovule, it may be also called as basigamy. Mesogamy refers to the entry of pollen tube into the ovule through the integuments.
