Erythroblastosis foetalis is a condition that arises due to the incompatible blood group of mother and growing foetus.
If mother is Rh -ve and carries a Rh+ve foetus, at the time of child birth, when umbilical cord is cut, Rh antigens from foetus enter the mother and she gets sensitized and starts producing Rh antibodies.The first Rh +ve child is born safe.
But if the women carries Rh+ve foetus second time, the Rh antibodies from mother enter the foetus via placenta and lead to the death of the foetus due to agglutination reaction.
