Estimate the following differences by rounding off the numbers to their nearest hundreds and compare the result with the actual difference.

To round off the digit to the nearest hundred, only tens digit we have to see, if the tens digit is more then $5$,then in the hundred digit one is added and other place value digit is change to zero. And if the value is less then $5$, then the hundred digit remain same and other place value will change to zero.

So,$12,507$ is written as $12,500$.

$223$ is written as $200$.

Sum of the round off thousand $$\begin{gathered} =12,500-200 \\ =12,300 \end{gathered}$$

Actual difference $$\begin{gathered} =12,507-223 \\ =12,284 \end{gathered}$$

Round off actual difference is $12,300$.

Both the result is same.
