The combustion reaction of hydrocarbons gives Carbon dioxide (CO2) and Water (H2O) and evolves a large amount of heat is called a combustion reaction.

These reactions are exothermic in nature.

Step 2:

Ethane is used as fuel due to the following reasons:

1. When Ethane (C2H6) shows a combustion reaction, it evolves a large amount of heat and this heat is converted into energy to use as fuel.

2. Ethane is free from evaporation loss and carries more energy than liquified natural gas.

Therefore, Ethane is used as fuel.
