Multiplication of decimals

First multiply the given decimals ignoring the decimal points

Now, add the number of decimal places in each number . In the product obtained , place the decimal point after the same number of digits ( from right to left ) as the total number of decimal places.

Since , the total number of decimal places in the given decimals =2 ( 1 in 0.2 and 1 in 0.7 ) .

So ,we will place the decimal point after two digits from the right to left as 0.14 .

Thus , 0.2×0.7 = 0.14 .
