$⟹$ $3 x - 9 - 2 x + 1 = 5 x - 25$ ...[By Distribution Law]

$⟹$ $x - 8 = 5 x - 25$ ...[On simplifying]

$⟹$ $25 - 8 = 5 x - x$ ...[Transposing $x$ terms to one side]

$⟹$ $4 x = 16$ ...[On simplifying]

$⟹$ $x = \frac{16}{4}$ ...[Dividing $4$ on both sides]

$⟹$ $x = 4$ .
