Solution

Dear Student,

“Even though there are a few challenges to free and fair elections in India, yet the outcome of elections is an evidence of its authenticity and democratic flavour”. Here are some points :

1.Independent Election Commission : In India, elections are conducted by an independent body and very powerful Election Commission (EC). Election Commission has the same kind of independence that the judiciary enjoys. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is appointed by the President of India, however after being elected , he is not answerable to the President.

2.Popular Participation : Popular participation is a way to check the quality of the election process , showing are people enthusiastic about voting and elections. If the election process is not free or fair in a country, people will lose their interest and will not continue to participate in the exercise.

3 Acceptance of Election Outcome : The outcome of the elections is the final test of free and fair elections .If elections are not free or fair in a country, the outcome will always favour the powerful and may not meet the choice of the people who voted. However in India, the ruling party often changes according to people's voting decisions.
