Evolution and classification of organisms are interlinked.
For the classification of organisms we find the similarities between the organisms and the put the organisms of same characteristics in same group.The organisms with different characteristics are placed differently.

A specific group or set of characteristics is used to study the evolutionary relationship among the organisms.

The characteristics which are more common in two species are more closely related to each other.The more closely they are related , the more recently they have a common ancestor.
