Hyracotherium was a shape near the regular family of all the odd-toed hoofed warm-blooded animals, the perissodactyls. It stood 30– 60 cm (1– 2 feet) high at the shoulder, contingent upon the species. The skull differed long; a few species had a moderately short face, however, in others the face was long and more horselike. Since the rear legs were longer than the forelegs, Hyracotherium was adjusted to running and most likely depended intensely on racing to escape predators. The body was delicately built and raised well off the ground, its slim appendages upheld by toes held in a relatively vertical position.
