Solution

Given m1=mm=2mu1=vu2=2v
total momentum conserved, In elastic collision is given as
m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m1v2
m1v+2m2v=mv1+2mv2
v1+2v2=5v.............(1)

Hence kinetic energy is also conserved. So,
12m1u21+12m2u22=12=m1v21+12m2v22
mv2+2m(2v)2=mv21+2mv22
9v2=v21+2v22
9v2=(v1+2v2)(v12v2)
Substitute value from eq (1) we get
9v2=5v(v12v2)
(v12v2)=95v..........(2)
solving (1) and (2) we get
v1=175v
v2=45v
