Example for an artificial ecosystem

An ecosystem is a functional unit wherein living organisms interact with each other and also with the surrounding environment. Ecosystems are classified into two types - natural and artificial. Natural ecosystems may be terrestrial (meaning desert, forest, or meadow) or aquatic, (pond, river, or lake). A natural ecosystem is a biological environment that is found in nature (e.g. a forest) rather than created or altered by man (a farm), which forms an artificial ecosystem.
