The reaction between acids and metal carbonates When an acid reacts with a metal carbonate, a salt, water and carbon dioxide are produced:

acid+ metal carbonate → salt + water + carbon dioxide

An example:-

sulfuric acid + zinc carbonate → zinc sulfate + water + carbon dioxide
