Expand $(3 x - 3) (3 x + 4)$ using appropriate identity

Using the identity is $(m + a) (m + b) = m^{2} + m (a + b) + a b$ .

Given: $(3 x - 3) (3 x + 4)$ we apply the above identity by taking
$m = 3 x$ , $a = - 3$ and $b = 4$
We get,
$(3 x - 3) (3 x + 4) = {(3 x)}^{2} + (3 x) (- 3 + 4) + (- 3 \times 4) = 9 x^{2} + (3 x) (1) - 12 = 9 x^{2} + 3 x - 12$

Hence, $(3 x - 3) (3 x + 4) = 9 x^{2} + 3 x - 12$ .
