ELISA
stands for Enzyme Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay. It is used to diagnose AIDS. It
is based on the principle of Antigen-Antibody interactions. It is an extremely
sensitive test that is used to detect antibodies (Ab) or specific antigens
(Ag). Infection by pathogen can be detected by the presence of antigens
(proteins, glycoproteins) or by detecting the antibodies synthesized against
the pathogen.
