FSH:
- FSH or the follicle-stimulating hormone is released by the anterior pituitary gland.
- It stimulates the growth of the Graafian follicles in the ovary, thus starting the ovule formation.
- The FSH also causes the release of the ovule from the ovary (ovulation) and promotes the secretion of estrogen hormone in females.
- The FSH hormone also promotes the formation of sperms in males through spermatogenesis.
Therefore, the expanded form of FSH is a follicle-stimulating hormone.
