Solution
Explanation :
A small sample of tissue can be taken from the onion peel to make a slide and stained with a suitable dye such as safranin and be viewed under the microscope.
Glycerine has a high refractive index and thus can be used in the slide for better vision.
Materials required:
Forceps
Needle
Onion
Slide
Coverslip
Glycerin
Safranin
Microscope
Experiment:
Peel off a thin peel from the onion bulb with the help of forceps and a needle.
Place the peel on a slide.
Put a drop of glycerin on it and also put a drop of orange safranin solution on it.
Cover it carefully with the help of a needle with a coverslip to avoid any air bubbles.
Observe it under a microscope of appropriate power.
