The three main types of wind are the Permanent Winds, Periodic Winds and Local Winds.
Permanent winds blow all through the year over a particular region in a specific direction. Trade Winds, Anti-trade winds and Polar winds are Permanent Winds.
Periodic winds are those winds that blow over a particular period of the year over a specific region and in a specific direction. Monsoon Winds are Periodic Winds.
Local winds blow over a small area and have only a very limited significance. Land and See breezes, mountain and valley winds, Loo and Chinook are Local winds
