Measures which will control vehicular air pollution in Indian cities include:-

Phasing out old vehicles.
Use of unleaded and low sulfur or sulfur-free petrol and diesel. Also, using CNG in vehicles and pollution check of heavy motor vehicles.
Norms set by the Government of India for reducing sulfur and aromatic content in petrol and diesel fuels. These norms include implementation of norms such as Bharat stage III for 2-4 wheelers and Bharat stage IV for 4 wheelers.
