Explain any two examples when work done is
(ii) negative.
Negative work done:
When force and displacement act in the opposite direction, the work done on the body is negative.
Example:
1. When a body moves on a sliding path in an upward direction, the gravitational force acts in the downward direction but displacement is in an upward direction.
In this case, the work done is negative.
2. When we walk, we move in the forward direction whereas a frictional force acts in the opposite direction. The force and the displacement are in the opposite direction.
So, the work done in this case is negative.
