(i) The nationalist tension was the most in the area of the Balkans.
(ii) The Balkans claimed for independence on the basis of their history proving that they were once independent.
(iii)The Balkans were quite rebellious due to which they claimed independence. However the Balkan area was an area of intense conflict.
(iv)The territories were jealous of each other and wanted to claim as much of land as possible.
(v) Furthermore, Balkans became a huge reason of power rivalry. Other empires were also extending their control over the area. This worsened the matter and led to the First World War.
