Solution

Plastids are double-membrane organelles found in the eukaryotic cells like plants, algae. They are the site of synthesis and storage of chemical compounds used by the cells. The type of pigment present in the plastid determines the color of the cell. The most common example of plastid is chloroplast, which is responsible for synthesis. The other examples include chromoplasts, gerontoplasts, leucoplasts.
