Solution

Interconversion of matter refers to the change of one state to another state. In this process by which matter changes from one state matter to another state of matter and back to its original state, without any change in its chemical composition.

  1. Liquid converts into vapors by the process of evaporation. The process of a liquid changing into vapors at any temperature below its boiling point is called evaporation.
  2. Gas converts into liquids by the process of condensation. Condensation is the process through which the physical state of matter changes from the gaseous phase into the liquid phase.
  3. Liquid converts into solid by the process of solidification. Solidification is the process through which the physical state of matter changes from liquid to solid.
  4. Solid converts into liquid by the process of fusion. Fusion or melting is a process through which the physical state of matter changes from solid to liquid.
  5. Solids convert directly into gases and vice versa by the process of sublimation. Sublimation is the process through which the physical state of matter changes from solid to gas directly or from gas to solid directly.
