Explain briefly on a single fixed pulley. Mention any one of its applications.

In a single fixed pulley, the load to be lifted is attached to one end of the rope. The length of the rope is equal to the distance moved by the load. A fixed pulley changes the direction of the effort. Hence, to lift the load up, we pull the rope down. A single fixed pulley is commonly used in villages to draw water from wells.
