Solution
Spore formation:
During adverse conditions, the organism develops sac-like structures called sporangium that contains spores.
When the conditions are favourable, the sporangium bursts open and spores are released that germinate into new organisms.
Spore formation helps bacteria to survive during adverse environmental conditions and constitutes a durable form with minimal metabolism. Hence, it is a survival technique.
