Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

Any five:
The need to limit the size of the family is more vital today than ever before. It is due to the following reasons :
(i) Economic pressure: There is a great economic pressure on the parents, which affects their quality of life.
(ii) Mother's poor health: The mother may suffer from ill health due to frequent pregnancies, especially if they are in quick succession.
(iii) Children neglected at home: Poor health of the mother, in turn, leads to lesser attention of the parents towards children.
(iv) Poor housing : Families cannot afford good, clean, well ventilated houses. A large section of the Indian population lives in small, one or two-roomed houses or huts with several family members including parents and even grandparents living together.
(v) Malnutrition: Children are unable to get enough food. This leads to malnutrition and deficiency diseases.
(vi) Insufficient medical care: Proper medical facilities being expensive, cannot be made available to all the members of the family. Most of the time, the children are deprived of this facility.
(vii) Insufficient education: Proper education (even primary education) may not be available to children.
These things can be achieved only if the size of the family is limited.
