Question

Explain briefly why do not root hairs become flaccid when fertilisers are added to the moist foil around them?

Open in App
Solution

Root hairs initially become flaccid when fertilisers are added to the soil around them because they lose water. However, after adding fertilisers, the soil is irrigated with water, and the concentration of water in the soil increases again. Hence, root hairs again become normal.
