i. A colloid is an intermediate between suspension and solution. A homogenous-looking heterogeneous mixture in which particles have size between 1 nm to 1000 nm (1 nm = 10−9 m) and are dispersed in a continuous medium is called a colloid.
ii. The components of a colloidal solution are the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium. The solute-like component or the dispersed particles in a colloid form the dispersed phase, and the component in which the dispersed phase is suspended is known as the dispersing medium.
Example of colloids:
milk, blood, jelly, fog, cloud, etc.
