Explain connecting link with example.

Evolution gives rise to new organisms from the ancient ones. There are some organisms which exhibit intermediate characters of two taxonomic groups. These organisms establish link between those two taxonomic groups. So, they are referred as connecting links.
Example: Archaeopteryx exhibit characters of reptiles and Aves
Reptile character: Teeth and tail like reptiles
Avian character: Wings like birds, beaks and jaws like birds.
