Open in App
Solution

Some landforms created by wind in desert areas are

1. Mushroom rocks: These are rocks in the shape of a mushroom. They are formed because wind erodes the lower section of the rock more than the upper part.

2. Sand dunes: Sand dunes are formed when the wind deposits the sand it is carrying. This forms a low hill like structure called a sand dune.

3. Barkhan: A barkhan is a special type of crescent shaped sand dune.

4. Loess: When the grains of sand are very fine and light, the wind can carry it over very long distances. When such sand is deposited in large areas, it is called loess.
