1) The principle of electric generator:Electric generator is the device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.The electric generator works on the principle of electromagnetic induction, current is induced in the coil when it is placed in the magnetic field.

2) The function of slip rings: Split ring is used in D.C generator circuit whereas slip rings are used in A.C generator circuit.Slip rings connect the rotating armature of a simple a.c. generator to an external circuit by means of carbon brushes B1 and B2.The external circuit (i.e. load) is connected to the other ends of brushes as shown in the figure. The brushes B1 and B2 do not rotate along with the coil and the slip rings.The basic function of slip rings is to provide voltage to the external circuit and to change the direction of the current.

3)Uses of generator: Providing backup energy for emergencies, Powering construction sites, Powering nuclear reactor plants, Providing backup for hospitals and other office buildings.
