Question

Explain evaporation on the basis of molecular motion?

Open in App
Solution

Evaporation is a change of phase from liquid to gas.
 explained as follows :

When molecules in the liquid phase are heated, they gain kinetic energy and move faster and space b/w molecules increases.

that is, the motion of molecules increases and they cannot stay as liquid stage, the molecules move fast and far apart and escape as gas state.
This is what happening in evaporation.
