2. Its education helps people to understand and develop hygiene practices to prevent disease and death in their community.

The following measures should be taken to maintain hygiene :

1. Proper waste disposal practices- there should be a proper collection, storage, and disposal of waste without causing a risk to health.
2. Dumping- Dry waste is dumped in low-lying areas.
3. Waste material is placed in an area covered with earth at the end of the day to prevent flies and foul odour.
4. Composting- it is a method of disposal of waste material like dry leaves kitchen waste and animal waste in a deep pit.
5. Sewage treatment- Sewage includes human excreta and waste water from residential areas.
