Explain Gandhi Irwin pact.
The Gandhi Irwin pact was signed by Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Irwin, who was the viceroy of India, on March 5, 1931. Under the pact, the Congress agreed to end the civil disobedience movement and participate in the second Round Table Conference. The British government agreed to remove restrictions on the Congress, release Congress activists from prison and remove the tax on salt. All revolutionaries were also to be released if they had no involvement in violent activities.
