Solution

An antacid is basic in nature.

Being a basic component, it removes the property of acid and kills it.

This means that they neutralize the acid that is made in the stomach.

Moreover, it reduces excess stomach acid and removes stomach pain, stomach upset and ulcer.

Our body works roughly between 7.3 to 7.5 pH range. Acidity means excess ot acid level in stomach. Antacid contains basic salt. so when we take antacid it reacts with excess acid of stomach and neutralize .(neutralization reaction takes place between acid and base).Commonly used antacids contains at least one of these key ingredients: Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Hydroxide, Aluminum Hydroxide and/or Sodium Bicarbonate.
