Explain how muscles work in pairs?

Muscles: They are the tissues that are able to contract and relax allowing movement. They are attached along with the bones for the ease of movement in the body.

  1. Muscles are known to work in pairs.
  2. When the muscles contract bones are pulled in that direction and the opposite side muscle relaxes.
  3. In order to move the bone in the opposite direction muscle which is relaxed begins to contract and the contracted one relaxes.
  4. For example for the hand to fold inwards from the elbow, the bicep will contract whereas the triceps shall relax and hence the movement shall happen.
