Question

Explain how the absorbed nutrients reach the rest of the body.

Open in App
Solution

  • Once the food is digested, the nutrients get absorbed in the small intestine.
  • Villi present in the inner lining of the small intestine are finger-like projections which are richly supplied with blood vessels.
  • So, during absorption, the nutrients enter these blood vessels and are then transported to the rest of the body.
  • These nutrients are utilised for various functions and this process is known as assimilation.
