Solution

Human ear:

  1. The ear consists of three basic parts - the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear.
  2. The external auditory meatus and pinna make up the outer ear (canal).
  3. The malleus, incus, and stapes are three of the ossicles that make up the middle ear.
  4. The bony and membranous labyrinths are the two components of the fluid-filled inner ear known as the labyrinth.
  5. The bony labyrinth is divided into two components Cochlea and vestibular apparatus.
  6. Two sensory tasks are carried out by the ears: hearing and maintaining body equilibrium.

Working of Human Ear:

  1. The 'pinna' is the outer ear. It gathers sound from the environment.
  2. The auditory canal is where the sound is collected.
  3. The eardrum, also known as the tympanic membrane, is a thin membrane that lies at the end of the auditory canal.
  4. When the medium compresses and reaches the eardrum, the pressure on the membrane's outside increases, forcing the eardrum inward.
  5. When a rarefaction reaches the eardrum, it also moves outward. The eardrum vibrates as a result of this.
  6. Three bones in the middle ear amplify the vibrations several times.
  7. The sound wave's amplified pressure variations are transmitted to the inner ear by the middle ear.
  8. The cochlea in the inner ear converts pressure variations into electrical signals.
  9. The auditory nerve sends electrical signals to the brain, which the brain interprets as sound.
