In nuclear fission, a larger nucleus is split into two smaller nuclei. In nuclear fusion, several small nuclei joins together to form a larger more massive nucleus. The products of'nuclear fission are much more radioactive than the products of nuclear fusion. However, in both processes matter is converted into energy.
