Question

Explain how two points having same abscissae but different ordinates lie on a line parallel to y-axis.

Open in App
Solution

a line parallel to Y axis

For example, take the points (2,-4) and (2,3) where the abscissa is the same in both the sets but the ordinates are different. Now plot the points on the graph. You will see that the points lie parallel to Y axis.

You could also take other points such as:

(a) (-3,5) (-3,2)

(b) (5,4) (5,-2)

I hope the answer was helpful....
