Explain in brief about humidity in air.
Step 1: Evaporation: The process of change of liquid state into vapour state even below its boiling point is called evaporation.
Step 2:(a) Humidity of Air:The degree of ‘dampness’ of air tells us the humidity of air. In other words, the
amount of water vapours present in air is called humidity. 1) When the amount of water vapours present in air is small, the air appears to be ‘dry’ and when the
amount of water vapour present in air is large, the air appears to be ‘damp’.
2)When the humidity of air is low, then the rate of evaporation is high and water evaporates morereadily. During such conditions, the sweat from our body evaporates readily and we feel comfortable. So,
the wet clothes dry quickly under the conditions of low humidity of air.
3)When the humidity of air is high, then the rate of evaporation is low and water evaporates very slowly.
During such conditions, the sweat from our body evaporates slowly and we become uncomfortable.
So, the wet clothes take long time to dry. 4)This type of weather is experienced during cloudy days in rainy
