Black soil- Soil becomes black as a result of broken down organic materials and is rich in soil nutrients such as calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash and lime. It is very fertile and produces a high agricultural yield and is commonly found in layers several feet deep. This soil is ideal for growing cotton.

Features of Black soil
1 These have been formed due to withering of lava.

2 The black soil are made of extremely fine materials, i.e., clayey materials.
3 The soil is generally poor in phosphoric content .
4 it is well known for its capacity of holding moisture.
