  • Long-form of the periodic table contains 7 periods and 18 groups.
  • In the long form of the periodic table, there are seven periods. The atomic numbers of the elements in a period are consecutive (continuous).
  • The following table shows the number of elements in each period:
  1. There are two elements in the first period. It's referred to as a “very short period.”
  2. There are eight elements in the second period. It's referred to as a short period.
  3. There are eight elements in the third period. It's also a small time frame.
  4. There are 18 elements in the fourth period. It's referred to as a long duration.
  5. There are 18 elements in the fifth phase. It's also a long span of time.
  6. There are 32 elements in the sixth period. It's referred to be a really long duration.
  7. The remaining elements are found in the seventh period. It is a work in progress.
