Due to the varied climatic conditions and topography of Gujarat, the forests of Gujarat are classified into four Categories.
Equatorial Forests:
These forests are found in areas that experience 120 cms. or more rainfall. These types of forests normally found in Navasari, Valsad, Dang, Panchmahal, Dahod, Narmada, Junagadh districts
Arid Forests:
These forests are found in the area that experience moderate rainfall i.e. 60 to 120cms.These types of forests are normally found in Jamnagar, Vadodara, Dahod, Narmada, Junagadh, Amreli districts
Thorny Forests:
These forests are found in the area that experience less than 60 cms of rainfall i.e. in the northern dry regions i.e. Kutch, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Banaskantha districts
Mangrove Forests:
(Tidal Forests) These forests are found in the western regions of Kutch and along the muddy shores like Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch districts.
