Dear student,

1) The body is acted upon by two different forces in the opposite direction. But the body will not be able to move in both the directions at a given time. Thus, body moves in the direction of the force that is larger and the magnitude of the force with which the body moves is the net force, that is equal to larger force minus smaller force.

2) Magnitude of the force is the quantity or the amount of force.
