Question

Explain me this postulate of kinetic molecular theory of gases.
1.Gases consists of a large number of identical particles (atoms and molecules) that are so small and so far apart on the average that the actual volume of the molecules is negligible in comparison to the empty space between them?

Solution

Dear student,,,Every gas is made up of a large number of extremely small particles called molecules. The molecules of a particular gas are identical in mass and size. The molecules of a gas are separated from each other by large distances so that the actual volume occupied by the molecules is negligible as compared to the total volume of the gas.
