Solution

Answer

Dihybrid cross: the di-hybrid cross is the cross between two parents having two sets of contrasting characters. e.g., a pea plant having round and yellow seeds is made a cross with a pea plant having yellow and wrinkled seeds.

e.g., In dihybrid cross :

When around, yellow-seeded pea plant is crossed with a green-seeded, wrinkled plant, the following results were obtained.

When a homozygous round, yellow-seeded pea plant is crossed with a homozygous wrinkled, green-seeded pea plant. In the F1 -generation, all offsprings were a heterozygous round, yellow seeded plant.

While in the F2 -generation, all characters were assorted independently.

The ratio was- 9:3:3:1 in phenotype i.e., 9 were round, yellow-seeded plant; 3 were round, green-seeded plant; 3 were wrinkled, yellow-seeded plant and 1 was wrinkled, green-seeded plant.

This specific cross shows the independent assortment of characters in the F2 -generation.
